T-Rex Active UV Heat
ZooMed Powersun UV

Just this year, I have replaced all of my heat bulbs and replaced them with these self-ballasted mercury vapor heat/UVB bulbs. They are incredible! The amount of UVB is more than 5 times than you get from a UVB florescent tube. Not only is the UVB greater but so is the UVA, which increases their appetite and activity levels. I have also noticed that the colors are more vivid on my Beardies. I don't think I will ever go back to the florescent tubes! The rating on the T-Rex bulb is 50 MicroWatts/cm2. You may even be surprised to find out that some vets prescribe these bulbs as treatment for MBD.

In the long run, these bulbs will save you money. They come with a one year warranty and don't have to be replaced every six months like the florescent bulbs. Another advantage to these bulbs is that the Beardie doesn't have to be really close to the bulb to receive the benefits of the UVB. The UVB will reach several feet away!

These bulbs come in 100 watt and 160 watt flood and spot bulbs. I wouldn't recommend the spot bulb unless you have a basking area that is more than three feet away from the bulb.

So far, these are the only two books that I have read cover to cover. They are both wonderful books. A good place to get them is at Amazon.com because they usually offer these books below cost with free shipping. The cost of these books are $14.99 each. That's cheap considering the wealth of knowledge you will get after reading them. I found that The Bearded Dragon Manual offered more insite on health issues and breeding.

Nolvasan (chlorhexidine diacetate) is the only EPA-registered chlorhexidine disinfectant, and works against at least 60 different bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and viruses. Nolvasan is non-corrosive, has minimal to no skin irritation, and retains antimicrobial activity in the presence of organic matter. Nolvasan binds to skin proteins and provides residual activity for as long as two days. I use Nolvasan for cleaning, disinfecting, and deoderizing my enclosures. Veterinarians use Nolvasan to disinfect their work environment and equipment. Do not get this in your Beardies eyes! If you accidentially get it in their eyes, immediately flush with water for 15 minutes and get them to the vet.

This is a TempGun from www.proexotics.com. I will never go back to using the stick on thermometers or the dial kind ever again. I recommend that anyone that wants to keep their reptiles healthy get one of these guns! They are extremly accurate and FAST! The last time I checked, they cost $35 plus shipping. That's not that much if you consider that you're investing in your reptiles health.
