In my opinion, Acidophiliz+ by Pet Authority is the best way to introduce good bacteria back into your reptile's system. After a round of antibiotics or antiparasitic meds, the good bacteria is most likely at a very low level or possibly even wiped out. This is when opportunistic bacteria and fungus take hold, which can result in Yellow Fungus Disease or bacterial infections. The good bacteria needs to be replaced in order to turn the digestive track around. I used to rely on yogurt until I found out that bearded dragons cannot properly digest dairy products. So I've switched to this fantastic product. It has a great taste that my beardies love! Need a multi vitamin also?? Check out our multi vitamin powder that has Acidophilus in it! $5.00 per bottle |

Everyone needs some of these on hand! They are great for giving meds, liquid treats, or used as a dropper to keep our beardies hydrated. These syringes are disposable, but can be used over and over. They are made of polypropylene, a non-toxic plastic. Each syringe is sterile, brand new, and comes in a storage tube. $1.00 for 3 syringes (1cc) |

| Feeding Nipples for 1cc Syringes | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
These latex nipples are specially designed for marsupials, various wildlife species and kittens. They work really well with 1cc syringes (see above) when feeding reptiles. I go through many of these nipples when nursing reptiles back to health. They work especially well in administering meds, slurries, and liquids. The nipple allows the reptile to bite down onto the soft, durable latex instead of the hard syringe. Also, I believe they entice the reptile to "chew" on the syringe as they are getting liquids and therefore are much more eager to drink. Some of my beardies actually know that the nipple means it's slurry-time and actually chase down the syringe like they would for a tasty roach or mealworm. The nipples can be disinfected by soaking in a Nolvasan solution or cleaned by running them through the dishwasher. They are tough and last through many feedings. Note: The tip of the nipple will have to be cut off before using. $1.00 for one latex nipple (does not include the 1 cc syringe) |

This is a human grade, calcium carbonate ultra fine powder. It is manufactured for human use and is normally bought by companies to be made into liquid calcium supplements and high calcium powdered drink mixes. The shelf life of this product depends on how well it is stored, and if stored properly it can last 5 years or longer. We are temporarily packaging the calcium in Ziploc bags until we can find an affordable way to package it. We ask that you keep the calcium stored in a cool, dark location. Over time, exposure to light will shorten its shelf life. Refrigeration is not required. The calcium powder is very fine, finer than baking flour and baby powder. It easily coats to live prey (crickets, mealworms, superworms, silkworms, roaches, waxworms, etc). It has no odor or taste and has a slightly off white color. It is water soluble, so it will fully dissolve in liquids, slurries, baby food, etc. We premix it into our salads and it dissolves so well that the beardies don't even know it's there. Why pure calcium carbonate? It's a controversial topic, but some researchers believe that vitamin D3, when supplied in vitamin form, is not absorbed by the reptile that eats it. Excess D3 is stored in the liver and can cause potential problems. When a reptile has an adequate supply of calcium, UVB, and a proper diet, there is no need for additional D3 supplementation. For more info on this top, read Melissa Kaplan's article on Vitamin Supplementation. She uses plain old calcium carbonate for all her reptiles, just like we do. $4.00 for a 4 oz. jar |

| Calcium Glubionate (fruit flavored liquid) | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
This is the ultimate weapon to have in your arsenal for fighting MBD. Calcium Carbonate (see above) is good for everyday use in preventing MBD and keeping bones strong and healthy. But when your treating MBD, you need something stronger that is absorbed better by reptiles. The dosage for Calcium Glubionate is 0.1 cc's for every 100 grams of body weight. For example, a 300 gram dragon would get a dose of 0.3 cc's orally every day. For the first week of treatment, you can double the dose for severe cases. A 1 oz. bottle will yield 60 doses for a 500 gram beardie, and 120 doses for a 250 gram beardie. Please note: When treating MBD, I highly recommend getting the reptile to a qualified reptile vet. Your vet may administer a calcium injection. $8.00 for 1 oz. (30 cc's) |

| Liquid Vitamin B Complex (apple flavor) | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
Everyone knows how beneficial B vitamins are to humans. They are just as helpful to our scaly friends. For example, a lack of thiamin (B-1) will cause twitching and muscle tremors in reptiles. This is called hypothiamosis and is often incorrectly diagnosed as MBD. Thiamin is needed for energy metabolism and proper function of the nervous system. Unfortunately, all the calcium in the world will not help a beardie that is deficient in vitamin B-1. I have searched a long time and have finally found a human-grade liquid vitamin B-complex that I can give to my beardies. Pet stores and pet supply websites offer similar products, but I wanted to be absolutely certain that I was getting a product good enough that I could take myself. I have been using it for the last 6 months on all of my beardies with outstanding results! My beardies are more energetic, and new rescues that are ill seem to perk up very quickly when given this supplement. $5.00 for a 2 oz. bottle |

Here is a list of every vitamin in this liquid (per ml or cc of liquid): Thiamin (B-1) 2.54 mg, Riboflavin (B-2) 2.54 mg, Niacin (B-3) 5.41 mg, Pyridoxine (B-6) 0.74 mg, (B-12) 3.38 mcg, Pantothenic Acid (B-5) 183 mcg, Folic Acid 338.2 mcg, Biotin (B-8) 16.9 mcg, Iron 37.7 mg, Cobalt 338 mcg, Copper 152.1 mcg. If you're like me, you're probably wondering just what each of these vitamins do. Well, I researched that too! Here is a listing of the vitamins and their key functions, sorry if it is a bit long... Thiamin (B-1) - This nutrient plays a critical role in maintaining the central nervous system. Adequate thiamin levels can dramatically affect physiological well-being. Conversely, inadequate levels of B-1 can lead to eye weakness and loss of physical coordination. Vitamin B-1 is required for the production of hydrochloric acid, for forming blood cells, and for maintaining healthy circulation. It also plays a key role in converting carbohydrates into energy, and in maintaining good muscle tone of the digestive system. A chronic deficiency of thiamin will lead to damages of the central nervous system. Thiamin levels can be affected in combination with antibiotics and sulfa drugs like Albon. This nutrient is water-soluble, meaning that the excess is excreted in the feces and is not kept in the body. Riboflavin (B-2) - Vitamin B2 is an easily absorbed, water-soluble nutrient with a key role in maintaining health. Like the other B vitamins, riboflavin supports energy production by aiding in the metabolization of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Vitamin B-2 is also required for red blood cell formation, respiration, antibody production, and for regulating growth and reproduction. Riboflavin is known to increase energy levels and aid in boosting immune system functions. It also plays a key role in maintaining healthy scales, skin, and nails. A deficiency of vitamin B-2 may be indicated by the appearance of skin and shedding problems. Gravid females need Vitamin B-2, as it is critical for the proper growth and development of the eggs. Niacin (B-3) - Vitamin B3 is an essential nutrient required by all animals for the proper metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, as well as for the production of hydrochloric acid for digestion. B-3 also supports proper blood circulation, healthy skin and scales. It also aids in the functioning of the central nervous system because of its role in supporting the higher functions of the brain and cognition. A deficiency in vitamin B-3 can result in a disorder characterized by malfunctioning of the nervous system, diarrhea, skin and shedding problems. Pantothenic Acid (B-5) - This is a water-soluble B vitamin that cannot be stored in the body, and must be replaced daily, either from diet or from supplements. It's most important function is as an essential component in the production of coenzyme A, a vital catalyst that is required for the conversion of carbohydrates, fats, and protein into energy. Pantothenic acid is also referred to as an anti-stress vitamin due to its vital role in the formation of various adrenal hormones, steroids, and cortisone, as well as contributing to the production of important brain neurotransmitters. B-5 is required for the production of cholesterol, bile, vitamin D, red blood cells, and antibodies. Lack of B-5 can lead to a variety of symptoms including skin disorders, digestive problems, and muscle cramps. Pyridoxine (B-6) - This is another water-soluble nutrient that cannot be stored in the body, but must be obtained daily from either dietary sources or supplements. Vitamin B-6 is an important nutrient that supports more vital functions than any other vitamin. This is due to its role as a coenzyme involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Vitamin B-6 is also responsible for the manufacture of hormones, red blood cells, neurotransmitters, and enzymes. Vitamin B-6 is required for the production of serotonin, a brain neurotransmitter that controls appetite, sleep patterns, and sensitivity to pain. A deficiency in B-6 can quickly lead to a profound malfunctioning of the central nervous system. Among its many benefits, B-6 is recognized for helping to maintain healthy immune system functions. Vitamin B-12 - Is a water-soluble compound of the B vitamin family with a unique difference. Unlike the other B vitamins, which cannot be stored, but which must be replaced daily, vitamin B-12 can be stored for long periods in the liver and kidneys. Vitamin B-12 is a particularly important coenzyme that is required for the proper synthesis of DNA, which controls the healthy formation of new cells throughout the body. B-12 prevents nerve damage by contributing to the formation of nerve cells insulators. B-12 also maintains fertility, and helps promote normal growth and development. Since B-12 can be easily stored in the reptile's body, and is only required in tiny amounts, symptoms of severe deficiency usually take time to appear. When symptoms do surface, it is likely that deficiency was due to digestive disorders or malabsorption rather than to poor diet. The source of B-12 in herbivorous reptiles is not known, since B-12 only comes from animal sources. Due to its role in healthy cell formation, a deficiency of B-12 disrupts the formation of red blood cells, leading to reduced numbers of poorly formed red cells. Symptoms include loss of appetite and neurological disorders. B-12 deficiency can lead to improper formation of nerve cells, resulting in irreversible neurological damage. Cobalt - Cobalt is stored in the red blood cells and the plasma, as well as in the liver, and kidneys. As part of vitamin B-12, cobalt is essential to red blood cell formation and is also helpful to other cells. High dosage may affect the thyroid or cause overproduction of red blood cells, thickened blood, and increased activity in the bone marrow. Deficiency of cobalt is not really a concern with enough vitamin B-12. As cobalt deficiency leads to decreased availability of B-12, there is an increase of many symptoms and problems related to B-12 deficiency, particularly nerve damage. Copper - Copper is important as a catalyst
in the formation of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying molecule. It helps
oxidize vitamin C, forms collagen, helps the cross-linking of collagen
fibers, supports the healing process of tissues, and aids in proper
bone formation. An excess amount of copper may increase collagen and
lead to stiffer and less flexible tissues. Copper enzymes play a role
in oxygen-free radical metabolism, and in this way have a mild anti-inflammatory
effect. Copper also functions in certain amino acid conversions. Copper
also contributes to the integrity of the myelin sheaths covering nerves,
and aids the conversion of tyrosine to the pigment melanin, which gives
scales and skin their coloring. Low copper levels may reduce thyroid
functions. Copper, like most metals, is a conductor of electricity;
and helps the nervous system function. It also helps control levels
of histamine. Weakened immunity, skeletal defects related to bone demineralization,
and poor nerve conductivity, might all be a result of copper depletions.
Copper deficiency results in several abnormalities of the immune system,
such as reduced cellular immune response, reduced activity of white
blood cells, and an increased infection rate. (Info above was gathered from several sites, including Anapsid.org and Phelsumania.com.) Our liquid vitamin B-complex is apple flavored and packaged in a 2 oz. glass bottle with a dripper top. Mix it in with your beardies salad a few times a week. $5.00 for a 2 oz. bottle |

Cricket Water (in dry crystal form, 2 oz.) | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
I didn't want my crickets to drown in the water dish so I added sponges to the water bowls. That worked fine until I found out that the sponge promoted bacteria growth. Then I switched to damp paper towels that I changed everyday. What a pain that was. Now I have switched all of my cricket tanks over to water crystals. They work great! They dissolve into carbon dioxide and water, there is nothing left to clean up or any bacteria to worry about. And they are perfectly safe! For best results, mix crystals use room temperature distilled water. The photos to the left are of the dry crystals (top) before adding water, and what they look like after adding water. I only used a small pinch of crystals to make the Cricket Water in the photo! For those of you who have a creative side, you can use these crystals in many other applications. For example, you can use them to make your own heat/ice packs, floating candle center pieces, smelly jellies, flower arrangements, and you can even spread them out over your garden beds and lawn if you aren't going to be home to water. $4.00 for 2 ounces of dry water crystals (will make almost a gallon!) |

| Mazuri Insectivore Diet (small dry pellets) | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
Our reptile veterinarian has been recommending Mazuri diets for as long as I can remember. Mazuri has been around for a long time and also makes diets for crocodiles, iguanas, tortoises, and many other exotic pets. The Insectivore Diet can be used as a complete and balanced diet for insectivorious reptiles. I only use it as a small portion of our beardie's diet because fresh greens and veggies are so good for them too! It contains over 9% crude fiber, which helps simulate the chitin component of the insectivores diet. For more information and a detailed analysis of this product, please visit Mazuri's website (PDF file). I want to give other reptile owners more control over how much they can order. You can order as much or as little as you want! We buy these pellets in bulk and will package your order when we receive it, so the pellets stay as fresh as possible. And since we use airtight Ziploc bags, you don't have to worry about your pellets getting stale. $4.00 per pound (16 oz.) |

| Nolvasan Solution 2% (By Fort Dodge) | |||||||||||||||||||||
|
Nolvasan (Chlorhexidine Acetate) is also
known as: Virosan, Chlorhex, Chlorasan, Phisohex, Hibitane, Hibistat.
It is one of the more widely used disinfectants because it is relatively
nonirritating to tissues. It is used as a disinfectant for inanimate
objects or an antiseptic for cleaning skin wounds. Chlorhexidine is
effective against many bacteria, fungi, viruses, and yeast (especially
Candida). Nolvasan is widely used by veterinarians to disinfect their
surgical instruments and any surface that has come into contact with
sick animals. Nolvasan is non-toxic, has no harsh odors even if some
residue is left on the surface (unlike bleach), once diluted it can
be used topically on wounds or as a mouth wash for mouth rot (Stomatitis),
and is effective against Staphylococci and many gram-negative organisms.
Nolvasan is not effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa or gram-positive
cocci on inanimate surfaces. Note: When Nolvasan is mixed with treated (tap) water the mixture will only be good for a few days to a week. If mixed with distilled water, the mixture will last up to 6 weeks. So it's a good idea to only mix as much as you need to use right away. Manufacturers recommended concentration for use: 1. For disinfection of inanimate objects to aid in control of canine distemper virus, equine influenza virus, transmissible gastroenteritis virus, hog cholera virus, parainfluenza-3 virus, bovine rhinotracheitis virus, bovine viral diarrhea virus, infectious bronchitis virus, Newcastle virus, Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, equine rhinopneumonitis virus, feline rhinotracheitis virus, pseudorabies virus, equine arteritis virus and canine coronavirus - 3 ounces (6 tablespoonfuls) per gallon of fresh or distilled water. Nolvasan Solution has been shown to be virucidal in vitro against rabies virus (CVS strain) in laboratory tests when used as directed above. 2. For disinfection of veterinary premises - 1 ounce (2 tablespoonfuls) per gallon of clean water. $4.00 for a 2 oz bottle of Nolvasan (depending on how the solution is diluted, 2 oz. will either make 2 gallons or 3/4 of a gallon). |

Occaionally, when a less expensive order contains heavier items, I will ship ground. Orders are usually shipped out on Tuesdays and Thursdays. International Orders: I DO ship internationally. However, Paypal is not currently set up to differientiate between domestic and international shipping rates. Please email me to place your international order, and I will figure shipping rates based on weight and let you decide which out prior to sending payment.
